Culinary couple Quinn and Karen Hatfield are the chef-owners of Los Angeles restaurants Odys + Penelope, The Sycamore Kitchen and The Mighty. The two met while working in the kitchen at Spago Hollywood and after years working within highly acclaimed kitchens in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco, the couple opened their first project together in 2006, named Hatfields. After six years of running their Michelin-starred restaurant, in 2012, Karen and Quinn opened The Sycamore Kitchen and followed with the 2015 opening of Odys + Penelope, just a few blocks away from The Sycamore Kitchen.
Wood and fire are at the heart of Odys + Penelope where the couple prepare meats and vegetables simply, over a wood-fired smoker and open grill, cooking how they do for themselves and their two children at home. The menu boasts a robust selection of wood-fired small plates and larger mains of meats, seafood and vegetables.
Now working on their next project, Karen and Quinn are heading to downtown LA, adding another casual restaurant to their portfolio. Set to open late summer 2017, The Mighty will be a neighborhood eatery featuring a rotisserie, a bounty of vegetable dishes and salads, housemade pastas and rustic pastries.
